Best Bible for College Girls

Not all Bibles are the same, and that goes beyond the translation. Choosing a Bible is a sacred process - you want to feel a connection to it, feel safe with it, and in my opinion, the right Bible also draws you in, making you want to read it on a daily (or regular) basis. I’ve received several Bibles as gifts over the years, but it wasn’t until I made the decision to read the Bible front to back a few years ago (during college) that I really explored the different versions and formats and saw how much variety there truly is.

For college girls specifically, it helps when your Bible is lightweight, easy to carry around, and easy to work with - especially when you’re flipping through pages during devotional time or group Bible study. Judge all you want, but I also wanted a clean, simple translated version that felt like a conversation with God, as opposed to another textbook added to my course load.

I sat with a few different versions at the store, and ultimately found the Bible that I felt a true connection to. It’s the first Bible that I’ve read cover to cover, and the beautiful illustrations helped me memorize quite a few verses along the way, too. This Bible changed my life, and it’s perfect for all college-aged girls and young women.

Inspire Bible NLT: The Bible for Coloring & Creative Journaling - This Bible changed my life. At first, I thought that the illustrations meant for coloring would distract me or take away from the heart of God’s message, but instead, they encouraged me to spend a few extra moments really pondering God’s word and how it serves as the foundational roots of my life, and helped me memorize the verses better. The illustrations themselves are elegant, and you can color them in without worrying about the pencils messing up the following pages.

I also love that there are provided lines for journaling or self-reflection. I sometimes used the lines to re-write verses for the sake of memorization, but it was really nice to have the journaling section during Bible study, because it was a great space for me to answer some of the questions that we asked as a group.

The Bible itself is technically a hardcover, but it’s softer than most, which makes it more lightweight and easy to carry around or travel with. There’s a ribbon to bookmark your place, and the edges of the pages are foiled. You can tell this Bible is really thoughtfully designed, and it’s such a delicate, feminine Bible while also working well with a college budget ($40).

I found picking out my own Bible to be a really sacred yet empowering process, and think everyone should pick out their own Bible at some point, but this would also make a beautiful, thoughtful gift that can be passed down, too.

best Bible accessories for college girls

What helped me independently read the full Bible in one year were the right accessories. That may seem superficial or even immature, but they helped me feel more organized and make reading my Bible feel like a sacred ritual that I looked forward to each day.

Bible Tab Stickers - These tab stickers make it so easy to flip back and forth through the different chapters of the Bible. You can find them in different colors and patterns, but I like how classic these are. They don’t wear-and-tear easily, are easy to apply, and won’t rip the pages of your Bible as you flip around.

Mr. Pen Assorted Color Bible Pens (8 Pack) - I was honestly nervous to use pens and highlighters because the pages of the Bible are so thin and I didn’t want them to bleed through and ruin the next pages. These pens have a really fine point, and write well without bleeding through. I like that they come in different colors, so you can color-code your notes or different verses. Unlike most gel pens, these last a long time, too.

Mr. Pen Pastel Bible Gel Highlighters and Pens (10 Pack) - I personally prefer pastel highlighters, but it can be hard to find some that aren’t too light or dark. These are great; I like that you get both a pen and highlighter for each color (5 colors total), and all my friends like these, too.

Mr. Pen No Bleed Gel Neon Highlighters - If you prefer bright or neon highlighters, these are specifically designed to not bleed through the thinner Bible pages, as opposed to the traditional Sharpie highlighters you can find in stores. They’re really bright in person, yet the color doesn’t fade over time.

Amazon Basics Premium Colored Pencils (24 Count) - The Bible I’ve mentioned has illustrations and bubble letters that you can color, and I found that these colored pencils worked best. These are pretty basic colored pencils that you can find anywhere, but they come in their own tray that makes them easy to travel with. Having 24 colors makes them easy to share with your Bible study group, but try to not apply the sharp point directly to the pages (use the side or dull it out slightly) to avoid ripping the pages.
